What is a DevOps Engineer

As a DevOps Engineer at Gozem, you will play a critical role in the development and maintenance of our cloud-based applications. You will work closely with our development and operations teams to enhance the deployment pipeline, monitor system performance, and maintain infrastructure. Your experience with AWS, MongoDB Atlas, and NodeJS/Express JS will be instrumental in ensuring our applications are efficient, scalable, and secure..

You will work in collaboration with our team of developers located around the world (Benin, Cameroon, Nigeria, Senegal, Togo, Kenya, India, Sri Lanka, etc.).

Your tasks:

1. Infrastructure Management:

  • Manage and maintain cloud infrastructure in AWS, ensuring high availability, security, and scalability.
  • Configure and optimize AWS services such as EC2, RDS, Lambda, and VPC to support the needs of our applications.

2. Continuous Integration and Deployment (CI/CD):

  • Develop and enhance CI/CD pipelines for efficient code deployment.
  • Automate deployment processes using tools like Jenkins, Travis CI, Gitlab CI/CD or CircleCI.

3. Monitoring and Troubleshooting:

  • Implement monitoring and alerting systems to detect and respond to issues promptly.
  • Investigate and resolve incidents related to infrastructure or application performance.

4. Database Management:

  • Manage MongoDB databases on MongoDB Atlas, ensuring data integrity and performance.
  • Implement backup and disaster recovery strategies for databases.

5. Security and Compliance:

  • Enhance the security posture of our applications and infrastructure, including compliance with industry standards.
  • Conduct regular security audits and implement best practices.

6. Scripting and Automation:

  • Write scripts (Bash, Python, etc.) for automation of routine tasks and infrastructure provisioning.

7. Collaboration:

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, QA, and IT, to ensure seamless application deployment and operation.

You are the right person for this job if you have...

  • Strong expertise in AWS services, including EC2, RDS, Lambda, and VPC.
  • Proficiency in managing MongoDB databases on MongoDB Atlas.
  • Experience with NodeJS/Express JS application deployment and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of scripting languages for automation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • AWS and MongoDB certifications are a plus

  • Level of education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or a related field
  • A minimum 3 years experience in a similar position

Interview process

  • An initial introductory meeting with the recruitment manager (30 minutes)
  • A business case to be completed within 08 days
  • A presentation of your business case with the head of the Tech team and a time to discuss your professional experience
  • An interview of 45 minutes with our Head of Product (future n+1) followed by a referral request (you give us 4 professional contacts to whom we send a questionnaire)
  • One final validation interview with one of our co-founders
